My 2022 Maverick X3 X DS Turbo RR is going crazy. There's a metallic rattle behind the passenger seat that only shows up when riding on rough terrain. It's not there at idle, and the machine performs perfectly otherwise. Anyone track down a similar noise before?

Something is probably just loose, like a heat shield, exhaust bracket or mount. It ain't likely engine related if it's quiet at idle and runs fine. Check for loose bolts or worn bushings back there, it's usually those tiny parts making the loudest noise lol

I had a similar issue with my friend's X3 last fall. It turned out that one of the bolts on the lower exhaust heat shield had come loose and would rattle a lot when driving over rough terrain. It sounded a lot worse than it actually was. After tightening it up, the noise disappeared. I'd recommend checking those heat shields and mounts first, I'm sure it's something straightforward like that.

Thanks for the tip! When you say the lower exhaust heat shield bolt came loose, was it easy to spot, or did you have to remove panels to get to it?
